During the day, I find that if I am able to go outside and take a long walk it clears my mind and will always make me feel better. However, finding ways to relax and un-wind at home is important too. Scheduling self-care time helps to calm your nerves and reduce any anxious feelings that you may have. Treating yourself by taking time for skincare or beauty care does wonders for your mood. Read on for 4 Quick Tips to Relax and Un-Wind at Home
Call A Friend
You know I am a fan of social media, but nothing beats reaching out to an old girlfriend and having a good conversation on the phone or zoom. I enjoy this way of reconnecting with some of my friends from high school, old neighbors and cousins. It’s so nice to hear a familiar voice and laugh over old jokes and stories. It does wonders for the soul.
Soak in a Warm Bath
While this practice is not new. There are few products to consider adding to your relaxing ritual. This brand of products are a wonderful way to treat yourself. The body wash contains niacinamide which will help nourish and soften you skin. Something that is needed during the winter months.
Afterwards slip into a nice set pajamas. I have a few sets of these Printfresh pajamas that are made of a nice breathable organic cotton fabric that keep you comfortable and cool. Plus, Printfresh is hosting their annual warehouse sale right now- use code PJPARTY to save an additional 20% off their sale prints. I have a few pair of pajamas from the brand + the robe I am wearing in the above pictures. The sets I have are all included in their sale.
Try a Weighted Blanket
Have you tried sleeping with a weighted blanket? A weighted blanket will help to naturally reduce stress and increase the quality of your sleep. I recently tried this Luna blanket and use it while relaxing- it feels like a nice warm hug. All to help calm your nerves and relax your body.
Weighted Blankets are effective in decreasing anxiety and promoting good. The evenly distributed weight stimulates pressure to release serotonin (happy hormone), increase melatonin (sleep hormone), and reduce cortisol (stress hormone).
It’s also made with a soft cotton fabric. Luna has an assortment of colors and weights so get one to use layered with another blanket or alone on the bed. A good night’s sleep improves just about anything, don’t you agree? If you’re interested in trying one out, you can Use code 15Nancy to save 15% on your purchase!
Listen to Soothing Music
I recently changed the music I listen to at home and I really like the tone that it sets. I’ve been listening to a playlist titled Coffee House on pandora and my husband doesn’t mind it either, in fact, I think he actually enjoys it too. I like to put the music on while cooking and have fun with the mood it puts me in.
Taking at least just 5-10 minutes to unwind during your day is a great way to treat yourself. What are a few ways that you like to relax and un-wind at home?

Nancy,
These are all terrific tips to incorporate into our daily lives. I think the suggestion to play music while making dinner is an excellent idea!

Great ideas Nancy! I have to have music on when I am working on cooking. It really relaxes me more. I’ll listen to some jazz – Ella or Frank at times 🙂 I take a bath in Epsom salts once a day, for my condition, but it also helps me unwind.
I love those PJs too!
enjoy your day!

Oh jazz sounds good I will have to give that a try. I listen to all different stations depending on my mood. Baths are very relaxing I try to do them in the evening before bedtime to help me wind down.
Thanks for stopping by Jess!

I started listening to dinner music a while ago. What is fun is that I pick the tunes according to what I’m making, if we are having Italian then I choose Italian music and the same for if I’m making Mexican food. Otherwise, coffee house is one of my most played stations.

I love ending a long day with a warm shower, some herbal tea and a lighthearted novel. I’ve always wanted to try a weighted blanket so I’ll take a look at the Luna 🙂 Nipa
