Hello Summer Dress Vibes!
Summer is right around the corner, and it’s time to start thinking about summer dresses. With the stay home orders in effect, many of us spent time cleaning out our closets and putting away winter clothing. The approaching warm weather and longer daylight hours will make you want to take advantage of being outdoors, even if it’s in your own backyard.
I know some of us may not be bathing suit ready (I know I certainly found comfort in baking over the quarantine). Flowing summer dresses will help camouflage some of those extra pounds we may have put on. Summer dresses look great with sandals and a lightweight jacket or a blazer on cooler summer evenings. I’m looking forward to the days where we can have family gatherings and reunite with girlfriends. I spent a good part of the last few months in loungewear and without makeup. I’m ready to embrace any opportunity I have to wear a summer dress. Even if it is just to the grocery store. You’ll find my favorite summer dresses for women over 50 below.
5 Summer Dress types to flatter any figure
- Shirtdress: Shirtdresses are by far the most functional dress you can ever own! Layering underneath or wearing them as dusters make owning one a value to your wardrobe.

- T-Shirt Dress: What is nice about wearing a t-shirt dress is that it feels like you are wrapped up in a big comfy t-shirt. Shoes can change the look, pair with sneakers for a more casual style or wedges to dress it up.
- Denim Dress: You will never make a wrong choice with a denim dress as there are so many ways you can accessorize them. What makes owning a denim dress even better is that they get more comfortable and softer each time you wash them.
- Smock Dress: A fancy floaty way to look stylish with unfailing comfort, smock dresses also have an artsy sophisticated vibe to them. I often like to wear a t-shirt underneath mine.
- Gauze Dress: There is a gauze for every woman! Even better, gauze dresses will never look wrinkled. Gauze is the best summer dress fabric choice for hot summer days. I roll mine up after washing to keep the wrinkles and creases in the fabric.
There are a variety of dresses at different price points. There are great options to fit most budgets. Find your favorite summer dress style, add a pair of sunglasses, and welcome your summertime outfit.

Hi! Loved these suggestions. I definitely succumbed to some quarantine excessive indulging and these dresses are perfect for me! And after I’m back to ‘me’ they will still look great!

Good Morning Nancy!
I am all about wearing dresses Nancy, especially in the heat here in the South! I have some t-shirt dresses, and linen dresses I look forward to wearing. I don’t have gauze, but it would be great material in the heat as well.
Have a wonderful day!

Thank you Michele,
It’s nice to be able to wear dresses in the summer instead of bulky sweaters and coats. They are certainly a great option for daytime or night.
Have a great weekend!
