Living in Florida, I cannot own enough sunglasses. I never leave the house without them. Too many times I have mistakenly purchased the wrong frames for my face shape leaving me with indents and marks on my cheeks that last for hours. Our face shape changes as we age and what may have been a perfect frame style in our younger years may not be as suitable as we age.
When looking to find the right pair of sunglasses remember that UV protection is an important aspect in your search. Search for sunglasses that list at least 95% UV rays.
As I mentioned earlier, I may never leave the house without my sunglasses, but, I am notorious for leaving them behind. Just recently, I left a pair at a restaurant in Chicago that my daughter-in-law had to go back and retrieve. I like fashionable sunglasses, but I do not like to overspend just because they have designers name on them.
I am excited to share a two sunglass purchases I made on Amazon recently.
Amazon Sunglasses Under $15
The first pair I choose was were black and grey. They are very thin and light weight which make them easier to wear without leaving marks on my face. They are UVA 400 which makes them perfect for lengthy outdoor activity.
This second pair is a trendy looking cat eye version made of plastic and metal. Both of these pairs are non-polarized. If you prefer polarized lens, there are other versions available in similar pricing from this brand. Quite frankly, I had to stop myself from looking any further because I would have continued adding more glasses to my basket. For now, I’m satisfied with my inexpensive sunglasses. I know that spending less allows me to change up my look without having a guilty splurge feeling.
How to find the right sunglasses for your face shape
One last note, I found this test on how to find the perfect sunglasses on YouTube.
Stand at arm’s length in front of your bathroom mirror. Trace your face shape, you can use lipstick, a bar of soap or a dry erase marker. Now stand back and look to see the shape you have just outlined.
I tried it using a bar of soap and found that I have an oval shaped face. It made shopping for sunglasses fun.
- Round Face -Suggestions include cat eye, aviators and to avoid round lens
- Square Face -Suggestions: larger frames work well, where the frames width matches the width of your face. Stay away from small narrow sunglass styles.
- Rectangular Face –Suggestions-broader large framed glasses balance the proportions. Avoid sunglasses that are smaller such as cat eyes styles.
- Oval Shaped Most all styles work except for exceptionally large frames.
- Triangular –Suggestions include to look for round frames, aviators, and to stay clear of wearing sunglasses with square and rectangular frames.
- Heart shaped -round frames work well on heart shaped faces, as well as aviators and wayfarers.

First off, love your dress! I have been living in dresses or jean shorts this summer. I love a great cat eye , those look wonderful on you! I wish I could get $15 sunglasses but mine are prescription, so I treated myself to a nice pair this year.
Have a great weekend!
