At Home Facial Peels
No matter your age, it is important to have a good skin care routine. Moisturizing alone is not effective in keeping your skin hydrated. Using an at home facial peel helps to exfoliate and eliminate dry flakes. Additionally, it helps to improve the clarity and brightness of your skin. At home facial peels are milder than professional strength ones. However, they can still be effective in giving your skin a healthy-looking glow. To find one that is best for your skin type always consult with a skin care professional.
- Salicylic Acid Peels will clean and de-clog your pores often they are recommended for acne or oily skin.
- Fruit Enzyme peels are derived from fruit acids such as papaya, pineapple or pumpkin
- Glycolic Acid is a little gentler leaving your skin a healthy glow.
Let me first say that nothing compares to the pampering you’ll receive at a spa. However, when scheduling or budget concerns keep you from caring for your skin then a DIY facial gives your skin a healthy-looking glow.
One of My Favorite At Home Facial Peels
I have had success with the Neo Strata Perfecting Peel. It is a simple two step process that takes less than 15 minutes. I do recommend that you try this a day or two before an important event just in case you do have reddens or a reaction. For the record I did not have any redness.
The instructions are easy to follow. You simply apply step #1 around your face avoiding the eyes, mouth, and nose. You will feel a slight tingle, then use Step #2 the neutralizer towelette and rinse your face. I like to follow up with a moisturizing mask and then my moisturizer.
Once you use a peel, remember to be diligent about using sunblock of at least spf 30 as your skin will be more sensitive for about a week.
Other important steps in achieving good skin
- Getting enough sleep
- Reducing Stress
- Easting healthy
- Drinking plenty of water
My personal skin care routine is to cleanse, apply a vitamin C serum (my favorite is linked here) then moisturize with an spf 30 in the morning- I have been using this. In the evening, I’ll cleanse, apply a night serum, and moisturize. I’ll use a mask at least 2 times a month and use a peel every 6 weeks. I may have changed my beauty routines through the decades, however one beauty routine I have always kept up with is to never go to bed without washing my face.

Hi Nancy!
Hope you had a good weekend! I have a routine I have been following for awhile, and really didnt start in on skin care until my late 30s. Your post was interesting as I have never had a peel, but I thought they might be interesting for brightening up the skin. I love a great vit C, Retinol, and love to see which brands I like best. I have head good things about Stivectin too and considered their retinol creme. I havent heard of the peels, but it sounds like something id like- a fresh start for Spring! Your skin looks lovely! I drink about 60-80 oz of water a day since I bought a metal bottle that keeps it cold for over 24 hours!
Have a great week!

Hello Jess,
Water is so very important and does help with keeping you skin hydrated. I have also heard good things about strivectin but I haven’t ever tried it. I think what really works best is paying attention to your own skins needs and taking care of it everyday. We are all different but the basics would still apply, cleanse & moisturize with keeping good healthy eating habits and proper sleep. Thank you for visiting my blog,
Nancy

Hi Phyllis,
Thank you for visiting my blog. This was extremely easy and I’ve used this particular brand for quite sometime. I used to get it at my doctors office but now you can buy it on line.
I hope you’ll find that you like it,
Nancy

Nancy,
Perfect timing my friend!
I love a good facial and buy all the stuff so that I can do it at home instead of driving to a spa.
I’m thinking of all the home things we can do with the coronavirus uncertainty!
