With Memorial Day approaching its time to start thinking about summer menus. Though most of us are still under the stay-at-home order. Many have adapted to celebrating holidays in new ways. Memorial Day Weekend is typically the kickoff to summer. Now, we are heading outside and getting to used the grill more.
Summertime and outdoor grilling go hand in hand. Burgers and Steaks are sizzling favorites to throw on hot grills. Yearning for something different, to cook, came across this recipe for barbeque beef brisket. It was the tangy barbeque sauce that caught my eye. I thought this recipe would be easy to try because you cook it in your oven for three hours and then place it on the grill to char for a short time.
Ingredients
- 1 five-pound beef brisket
For the Marinade
- 1 cup of apple cider
- salt and pepper to taste
For the honey sauce
- ½ cup honey
- 3 tablespoons of Soy Sauce
For the BBQ sauce
- ¾ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp. honey
Step #1
Preheat your oven to 300 degrees place the beef brisket in a 9×13 baking dish. Pour the apple cider over the brisket then season with salt and pepper. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and cook for 3 hours.
Step #2
Prepare your BBQ Sauce. Combine the ketchup, brown sugar, honey, Worchester, cider vinegar, garlic powder, salt, & pepper, in a pan on your stove over a low heat for approximately 10 minutes. Do not allow the sauce to boil it will become vinegar tasting.
Step #3
After three hours remove the dish from the oven. Carefully place your meat on a serving platter and baste one side with the honey sauce. Place the brisket on a hot grill and char, turning over once and then basting the other side. This will take about 5-7 minutes on each side.
Let the brisket rest about 10 minutes before slicing and serving with the BBQ Sauce. I decided to make this delicious and easy homemade cornbread to serve with the brisket.. This recipe serves eight persons. Side note-hang on to this BBQ sauce recipe for future grilling as you may never want to buy bottled BBQ sauce again. It’s that good.
Enjoy Your Memorial Day Weekend!

I love bbq brisket on the grill!
I think it’s more of a southern thing since I never had bbq brisket until I moved to Atlanta.
Bbq brisket is my favorite beef to slow cook over the grill in the summer!
I can’t wait to try your recipe Nancy!
Hugs,
Robin
