Castor oil is often used in skincare and beauty products. In fact, it has been around for thousands of years. A little while ago, I purchased pure organic castor oil to help my eyelash growth after running out of my neulash. Although I was looking for a temporary fix, I can speak from experience that after using the oil along my lash line for several weeks, I did not see fuller lashes. With that said, the large bottle I purchased sat in my bathroom cabinet for quite some time. It was only recently I decided to add a few drops of the oil to my body lotion to apply after showering. It worked immediately, and left my skin feeling soft and hydrated.
How to Apply Castor Oil
After you shower, while your skin is still damp, reach for a few pumps of your favorite body lotion. Next, add a few drops of castor oil. Mix the two, by rubbing your hands together. Apply to your arms, legs, and chest. I do avoid using castor oil on my face. I feel that it may be too heavy for my skin.
Unexpected Benefit of Using Castor Oil for Skin Care
I noticed after using castor oil I seemed a little more regular. Crazy at it may seem, applying castor oil to my skin helped myself go to the bathroom regularly. I asked my internist about this as I wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing anything bad for my health. He told me if I wasn’t having issues with diarrhea, it would not be harmful. I found this to be remarkably interesting.
I must mention that if you start to see breakouts, a rash, or feel nauseous then this oil is not for you. As always, check with your doctor or dermatologists.
I found that using castor oil helps to keep away that creepy looking skin you get as you age. Exfoliating is also a crucial step to help keep your skin hydrated. It’s inevitable that as we age, our skin is going to sag and loose its elasticity. We cannot prevent this. However, we can keep our skin looking better with a combination of exfoliation and moisture. Castor oil mixed with your daily moisturizer will help keep your skin feeling and looking hydrated all day.

Hi Nancy,
This was interesting! I didn’t know this about castor oil. Sounds like it may be a good mix with my moisturizer or on the body. It is so key to have the skin moisturized and not get dry. I also didn’t know that it could help with regularity. I have Gastroperesis, so that is always a concern of mine.
Enjoy your day!

But can you add castor oil to a bottle of your favorite body lotion is my question?
Nancy Weiss says
Hello Lynda,
I apologize for the late response. I have never done it that way this before. I usually take a few drops and add it to the palm of my hand then I mix it with a few pumps of body lotion and apply on my skin. Lately I’ve been applying it on my eyelids and eyebrows. Although I do not see instant results, I know this is helping keep my lashes healthier.
Regards,
Nancy
