I love plaid it because it reminds me of my favorite time of year, fall. Everything about fall is comforting to me, the colors, the smells, the fashion and let us not forget about the food. Beautiful fall weather allows us the chance to wear jackets when we want to and not because we need to.
Let’s talk about plaid
My first introduction to plaid was when I attended Catholic school and we wore a uniform. My real true love of plaid started in my teens when my sisters and I fought over wearing my fathers red and black plaid lumber jack shirt. I loved that woolen shirt and often wore it as an oversized jacket. In Scotland, tartan plaid stands for a symbol of patriotism. Plaid is not something new and has been around for centuries. My son recently traveled to Scotland to stand up for a wedding where the groom and his groomsmen wore traditional kilts.
A Classic Blazer is a wardrobe staple
Fall and plaid are synonymous and will forever be a perfect duo. Therefore, I have selected plaid blazers as an Ageless Ensemble. Plaid blazers take me back the 70’s and my high school years. For my thirty something daughter, plaid may bring her back to the 90’s grunge craze. Whatever your age group, this midcentury pattern has shown us through hundreds of years that it is unstoppable in the fashion world.
Wearing a blazer over a plain or graphic tee shirt and a pair of jeans allows you to dress casual with an added touch of formality. Blazers combined with jeans always incorporate a pulled together look. The lines of a blazer can vary from tailored to structured. The 90’s oversized boyfriend blazer has also made a comeback.
Brittany and I have each chosen our own way to style a plaid blazer and are sharing a few of our favorite finds. Both of these jackets are Veronica Beard. Veronica Beard blazers are wise investment because they will last through many seasons. You can find lower priced quality blazers at secondhand shops- we found one of these jackets on Ebay and the other on the RealReal. So if you’re in the market there are strategic ways to shop and save.
Wearing a plaid blazer makes me feel a little studious, which I’m not. I prefer wearing blazers because I like the way you can dress casual with a classic appeal.

Hi Nancy
LOVE the blazers! I am a blazer girl through and through. I used to live in Pittsburgh, and got to wear them eariler in the season, but still kept many and recently bought a plaid one. Love the longer oversized blazer with the skinny jeans!
You both look great!
