Decadent Deep-Dish Chocolate Brownies
This Decadent Deep-Dish Chocolate Brownie recipe has that hard crackling top while underneath you’ll discover a rich dense moist cake like texture. My friend Louanne passed along this recipe to me. Together we share a love of chocolate and anything made with real butter. I knew it was going to be a winner. This recipe requires an 8×8 pan and will give you nine large very thick brownies. It’s perfect for a small groups and dinner parties. Most all the ingredients are already in your pantry and it doesn’t take long to make. I promise you will not be disappointed. And, you’ll find yourself making these brownies over and over.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter melted
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
- 3 eggs
- ¾ cups flour
- ½ cup cocoa
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt (I use sea salt)
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate (I always use Ghirardelli 60% cacao dark chocolate chips)
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8×8 pan. In a mixing bowl, blend butter, sugar, and vanilla, add eggs and beat well. Next, in another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa. Mix well then gradually add the dry mixture to the egg mixture. Now, this will be a little messy because of the cocoa. Once the batter is mixed well, stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts with a wooden spoon. Spread the mixture evenly into your prepared pan and bake for around 40-45 minutes. Bake until the brownies pull away from pan. Be careful not to over bake. To test for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center, when you pull it out, it should be dry.
Now, you can also use a 7×11 baking pan. However, the brownies will be slightly thinner and they may cook better. As they will also take less time to cook. Approximately 35-40 minutes.
This is one of those recipes that will be around for generations. It’s easy and delicious. As for storing them, they won’t last long however a covered container will work just fine.

Your ingredients do not list vanilla but vanilla is added in the mixing directions! So do you add vanilla or not – confused?!?!
Nancy Weiss says
Hello Sue,
Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention. I’m terribly sorry that I left this ingredient off the list on my blog. The amount of vanilla that you will need to add is 1 1/2 teaspoons. I have just updated the recipe on the blog. I really appreciate you emailing me to let me know.
I hope that you find them as tasty as my family does.
My Best,
Nancy
