To start focus on decorating the Exterior:
When I lived in the Midwest, one of my favorite things to do in the fall was to head over to the nursery and purchase mums. It’s such an easy way to welcome the fall season, and mums are very hearty. You can also decorate with other seasonal outdoor plants such as cabbage & kale plants, black-eyed Susan’s, and cornflowers. However, I found that adding pumpkins inside my pots with artificial leaves was an easy alternative to planting. Additionally, I would like to add a haystack next to the front door with more mums, pumpkins, and corn stalks. Maybe even add a cute scarecrow. It takes only a short time, and your front entrance looks so festive. Later, you can start preparing for Halloween by adding spooky and fun Halloween decorations. My granddaughters are really into these three outdoor witches that hold hands and light up. And these Harry Potter-themed hanging lights will really create a festive atmosphere.
Follow up with decorating the Interior
Inside the kitchen, you can add bowls of apples or gourds and use fall-inspired linens such as table runners and placemats. How cute is this stemwear from Pottery Barn? And the matching party bucket- a great find if you’re entertaining this season.
Add a candy dish with caramels and fall platters on your table. Don’t forget to scatter a few decorative leaves. In your family room, you can easily change out fall-themed pillows and add a throw. If you have a fireplace, this is an excellent spot for pumpkins and artificial vines.
I used to decorate mainly for when my grandchildren visited. Still, even now, living in Florida, I enjoy decorating for my enjoyment and add white, gold, and silver pumpkins around our condominium. I also have a cake plate set out with a few gourds, acorns, and leaves. I will not see any trick-or-treaters, but it’s still fun getting into the holiday spirit and changing up the look around our place. Fall is my favorite time of year, and I want to enjoy everything else about it.
