Whenever I give a gift, I try to really think about the recipients personal habits or hobbies. As for me, I am always in my kitchen. When it comes to cooking, there are a few things that I find that I cannot live without. Of course there are also items that I dream of getting yet don’t want to splurge on. Which is why, today, I wanted to put together a gift guide for the chef in your life. If you have a chef on your shopping list, then you may want to give them something that they would not ordinarily treat themselves to.
While putting together gifts, I often like to have a theme so that items go together. For example, I purchased this cookbook, along with a few grill tools (see this post for a few more ideas) for my son-in law. Then, I added in specialized seasonings and rubs.
Below are a few ideas that I have found success in gifting to my favorite chefs. I hope that I have inspired you with ideas that will not only please the recipient but also get you an invite to sample their culinary creations!
Gift Guide for the Chic Chef
Olivewood Wooden Spoons Wooden Spoons always remind me of my Mother and Grandmother. Anyone else get chased around the kitchen by their Mother holding a wooden spoon? A nice quality wooden spoon makes a great gift that will last
Bakeware Set – During the Christmas Holiday Season, I enjoy baking. These reliable pans include all the essentials.
Cheese Grater – How Chic is this grater? I would love to leave it out on display during dinner. Something I most likely not purchase for myself but I definitely would love (receive).
Sous Vide Cooker with WiFi– Designed to work with any pot in your kitchen. This cooker heats and circulates water, cooking food evenly to a precise internal temperature
Always Pan – One of the most popular pans around right now! This best selling pan has non-toxic non stick coating. And it is available in a variety of colors. It’s called the Always Pan for a reason- you will always use it! =)
Ceramic Decorative Tray– This beautiful tray caught my eye. I always like unique pieces to arrange my tabletop. While it’s not designed to use for food, I think that it would make a pretty display.
Temperature Controlled Mug– How often have you microwaved your coffee cup? While my kids were growing up, I probably did it every day. My morning routine has definitely slowed down. However, I think that this would make a great gift for that busy Parent in your life.
Wine Preservation System – This Wine Preservation System featured on Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator Magazines, and endorsed by High End Chefs, for restaurants caught my eye. Invited by a MIT engineer in the medical supply field. He created it because he hated the thought of opening a nice bottle of wine and not having the time to enjoy it. This tool helps to preserve those bottles.
Boos Cutting Board– In my opinion a chef can never have enough cutting boards. I like to include mine as part of our big family meal. I often use it to display charcuterie before we eat. The quality is amazing and will last
Basting Pot – I purchased this device for my son-in law. This basting pot keeps your marinade warm. It is designed for use either inside or outside on the grill or smoker.
Check Tea Kettle – MacKenzie-Childs pieces are timeless and will fit almost any kitchen. An everyday essential that is hand painted and like artwork for your kitchen.
Salt Set– Have you watched the series Salt, Fat, Heat Acid on Netflix? If you haven’t yet, I highly recommend it. As I mentioned above, I purchased her cookbook. In the series, Samin travels to different regions of the world learning the elements of cooking from a variety of countries. I enjoyed learning how different seasonings and flavors can enhance your dish. Why not a fun little salt set like the one below?
