Now that It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and you have rsvp’d to a party, what do you wear?
The last thing you want to do is show up either underdressed or overdressed. In that case you’d have to make a quick call that you have to leave for another party and Run Rudolph Run.
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year when everyone has that festive feeling so that is why we need to step it up a bit and wear your party favorites when attending a holiday party.
First, you need to clarify a few key factors when deciding what to wear.
Who is hosting the party?
Keep in mind that you do not want to make poor fashion choices while attending your or your spouses holiday party. You should always remember that you are dressing for success. That means nothing too exposed, nothing too bare, and nothing too sheer. You can however, wear color, choose something sequined, or make an impression with a pretty statement piece such as a purse or piece of jewelry.

Family Event // Holiday Party Outfit Ideas
Attending an event with your family and grandchildren? Typically family holiday events tend to be a bit more casual and comfortable, like Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
Where is the event?
If your holiday party is at a restaurant or country club then do not be afraid to call the venue and ask what the attire might be. They may be able to give you input on what is being served or the décor and that can help you decide the right ensemble.

Velvet Maxi Dress Available in Sizes XS-3X $229
When your holiday party is at someone’s home, then you still need to do your research, as I’ve been to friend’s homes for parties that were very formal and then there were parties that were relaxed and casual. I still like to think that this is a holiday party and you’re paying a compliment to the host by dressing up and showing them that their party is special.
How to bring it all together for this Winter Wonderland of celebration?

Think about core pieces
Not everything is supposed to be shiny and stand out. Shop your closet and pull out what pieces you have already and how you can make them work. Then, if you feel like adding something new I suggest you splurge smart,as festive holiday attire is not something you will be wearing after Auld Lang Syne has been sung.
In the Holiday Office Party look above, I took a dress and paired it with fun heels, a pearl headband and brought a pop of color with the red purse. Then, I styled a jumpsuit with a plaid wrap worn with heels or mules.
Next, for a party at a friends or neighbors home, I took one of my favorite styles-faux leather pants- and styled them a few ways. I found these faux leather joggers at Anthropologie that look very comfortable. You can have fun with how you choose to wear them. With a Flowy Tunic, A Sweater or a Tie Neck Blouse. I love the look of these Jefferey Campbell Sequin Block Heel. I think they add such a fun statement to a casual look.
Lastly, for a Family Christmas Party, I found a pair of high waisted red pants from Ann Taylor and a plaid bell sleeve top that I think make for a comfortable yet stylish ensemble. I wrote previously about adding red into your holiday style. You can choose a solid color or one with a fun print.
So when it’s time to be Rocking Around the Christmas Tree have fun and amongst the Holly and The Ivy.
Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas and let’s wish for some Joy to The World!
Cheers!

Morning Nancy!
So many beautiful pieces here! We visit my Mother in Law this year in Harleysvile Pa, so I do love to dress up and typically do anyway, on Christmas Day. Love those Jefferey Campbell red booties, fabulous! I am asking Santa for a pair of faux leather pants, so we will see, those Anthro joggers are so great! I wear YSL makeup but havent tried the illuminating stick.. may have to give it a shot.
Have a wonderful week, Happy Holdiays

Hello Jess,
I like to dress up, it’s Christmas and there is no better time. They say that everyday is a party so why not dress for the occasion because life is short!
I hope Santa brings you what you asked for 🙂
