Body positivity amongst women of any age group is crucial. Learning how to accentuate your best features is a resource you can use to help give you a confident self-image. We are all diverse regarding figure types. To start, find something you like about your figure and work with that feature. Do not try to hide your body with clothing, instead look to make your clothing elevate your appearance.
Dresses
A-line dresses and empire waist dresses are the most favorable choices for women over 50. Your dresses should skim your body, as you do not want them clingy. The most flattering length regardless how tall you are is right at the knee or just below it. As for patterns and prints they can be fun, especially in summer. Make sure the pattern your wearing is in proportion to your body. The best fabrics to consider for summer would be lightweight such as cottons and jersey, although never rule out denim dresses. Consider something like this, or this.
Undergarments
It is always smart to focus on what’s underneath. Find good fitting bras like this one (a favorite!) or this one that eliminate bulging. There are a variety of choices when it comes to shapewear. I like shapewear that smooths yet is not very structured or tight. It may take a little time to find what you feel comfortable with, but shapewear is worth giving a try. There are also a few brands of swimwear that have built in shaping for your beach and pool days.
Pants
Darker colors are always going to make your legs appear thinner. A slight flare leg in midrise denim jean (like this style) is a good choice for most figure types. White pants are extremely popular for summer and can easily be styled many fashionable ways. When looking to buy white pants opt for a heavier fabric or maybe even go one size up. Of course you will want to stay clear of white pants that are see through. I have this brand of white jeans and am happy with my purchase. If you choose to wear elastic waist pants, then wear a longer top. You can always add a belt over your top and around your waistline to keep you from looking boxy.
Tops and Jackets
Loose longer length tops, with a slightly wider bottom are great choices to wear with pants. You can complement your look with dusters and topcoats which are currently very chic. Have fun experimenting with layering a duster or topcoat over dresses too.
Another style tip on dressing to look thinner is to dress in one color. Monochromatic dressing is very trendy tight now so use this to your advantage. It does not matter if you choose all black, beige, or a single color, wearing one color streamlines your silhouette. Trick of the trade-accessories can grab attention. They can be ingenious adornments that will draw the eyes focus away from anything else you have on. I like this style linked here
Lastly, always buy the right size clothing or have them altered to achieve a perfect fit. Wearing larger loose clothing will tend to make you look bigger, and on the flip side there is nothing flattering about clothing that is too small. One final note, the best advice I can offer is to always dress to reflect your true spirit. Doing so will keep you confident, and that by far, is the best accessory you can walk out the door with! Cheers!

As I have gotten older I have changed how I dress because my body has changed.
Embracing our bodies as we get older does make us think about what looks best on us.
