How to Dress for Fall When the Weather is Still Warm
As we move into fall, my first piece of advice is to dress according to the weather. There’s no need to pull out heavy wool sweaters and corduroys just yet! Opt for lightweight fabrics in rich, autumnal colors if it’s still warm outside. It’s time to retire summer’s bold, bright hues and embrace the deep, warm shades of fall.
Transitional pieces that will take you from now into the cooler days ahead with ease:
- Olive V-Neck Side Cinch Maxi Dress
This dress has a flattering fit and a trendy olive color that pairs beautifully with tans, burgundy, and brown. I wear it with woven espadrilles, but as the temperatures dip, I’ll swap them for sneakers or loafers and add a denim jacket.
- Brown and White Striped Blazer
This blazer is made from a stretchy cotton blend and is perfect for early fall. It’s comfortable and versatile—I like to wear it with a camisole now, and I’ll switch to a denim shirt underneath as it gets cooler.
- Dark Floral Smocked Maxi Dress
Dark florals are my go-to for fall! This lightweight dress offers a feminine, flowy style that works well with dark sandals in warm weather. Later, swap the sandals for low booties, add a cozy sweater, and you’re all set.
- Olive-Green Cargo Joggers
These joggers are a stylish alternative to leggings or jeans. They’re soft, stretchy, and endlessly versatile. Pair them with a basic tee for a casual look, or dress them up with a mock turtleneck, as I did, for something a bit more polished. You’ll find yourself reaching for these again and again all season long.
Warm Fall Styles That I’m Loving…
I hope these tips give you some fresh ideas for navigating the tricky in-between season. The key is to stay within the shades of fall while keeping comfort in mind. As always, if you have any questions or need more inspiration, feel free to reach out to me.
