How to incorporate Neon Colors into your spring style
Guess what? We are seeing another 90’s trend flashback for this spring and summer. If you choose to wear a neon color, you certainly won’t be blending in with the crowd. They are bright bold colors that are often used as highlighters so expect to be emphasizing your appearance when you wear a neon shade.
In the first group of photos shown, I selected a pair of neon pink Hudson Jeans. Because of the brightness of the pants, I decided to wear them with a white shirt and black pinstripe blazer to balance the look.
For the second look, I styled a neon pink blazer with a black and white stripe top, embellished jeans from zara and silver boots.
I’ll be honest here, neon is a little out there for me personally. I do like bright colors, however, they speak loudly so I wear them with a little caution. I do want to shine, but I don’t want to glow in the dark.
Choose wisely coordinating bright colors into your summer wardrobe. Bright colors pair well with denim, white, black, and lighter neutrals. I recently saw an image on Pinterest pairing neon pink with hunter green and neon green with camouflage. Another good style choice would be to pair your neon with a softer shade of the same color.
When you wear something in neon, you need to understand that you are making that item of clothing a focal point and will be drawing attention to that area of your body. If you’re not comfortable with that then a neon accessory may be a better choice.
Neon looks exceptionally good with a tan. Therefore, summer is a very popular time to wear it. I also see a lot of neon in both women’s and men’s active wear. How appropriate is that! Wearing bright colors give an energetic feel. If you show up for a workout in illuminating color, you just might feel an added burst of energy.
As a golfer I have a lot of neon golf attire, even my Cobra Driver is a bright shade of pink, but I unfortunately it doesn’t make me play better golf.
how to give the neon look a try
There’s a lot to choose from if your looking to experiment with wearing neon. You’ll find clothing in jackets, pants, shirts, and dresses, but if you’re a little hesitant then go for a scarf, purse, or jewelry. Still a little shy? Try a bright nail polish.
Notice I didn’t say lipstick here? If you’re old enough to remember the popular 80’s neon lipstick by Revlon, “Cherries in the snow” then you’ll understand what I mean when I say that there’s a certain age where bright lipstick requires constant maintenance. Bright lipstick is probably the hardest to pull off because women our age have more lines around our mouth and it’s difficult to prevent your lipstick from bleeding. I do wear bright lipsticks occasionally, but I limit the amount of times. I choose to wear a brighter lipstick when I’m only out for a few hours and the touch ups or chances of bleeding are fewer.
Well ladies, with all that said, summer will soon be upon us. The choice is yours, to glow or not to glow.
