In years past, the fashion statement most often heard this time of year was that you should not wear white after Labor Day. Now a days the question is “How do you wear white after Labor Day?” This time of year, temperatures vary from one day to the next. Warm weather seems to linger during the first weeks of fall. It’s necessary to adapt to dressing for the season and remain comfortable. When you have both fashion and comfort you have hit the style jackpot.
Four Tips on How to Wear White After Labor Day
Go ahead and wear white!
- Just pair your white top or bottom with a darker colored item like brown, black, navy, or denim. And, add a pair of leather sandals and you are good to go!
- Off white is probably a safer option and my personal favorite to wear if you are experimenting with adding white to your fall wardrobe.
Fashion Tip: Wearing the colors of the season right when that season begins will always give you a fresh and trendy look.
With my recent move I’m finding that I need to reinvent my fall wardrobe. Living in Florida the fall weather is still very warm.
- I’ve observed that true Floridians welcome the change in fashion when entering a new season. They transition by wearing the colors of fall, but the fabrics are lighter weight and not as bulky as we would need in the Midwest.
- For fall dressing incorporate browns, olives, khaki, orange, mustard, and crimson colors into your wardrobe. I’m also seeing a lot of purple for fall- which pairs very well with cranberry and I love it with chartreuse green. I had mentioned in a previous blog that olive and shades of green are going to be seen often this fall.
Another upcoming trend you will see is python print, camouflage, and leopard print.
The fun thing about these three prints is that you won’t just see them in their traditional colors. I just found a python print pleated midi skirt in teal blue at Nordstrom Rack for $29.00. It’s still available in tan & light pink!
Warmer fall weather has made us rethink the previous guidelines that were established in years past. Enjoy the beautiful warm days of fall and continue wearing white as it’s no longer a fashion taboo.
