Pork Tenderloin is without a doubt, one of my husband’s favorite foods to eat. He would probably eat it five nights of the week if I let him. Which is why I am always searching for new and different ways to prepare the dish. I found this recipe for pork tenderloin in a Mustard Cider Sauce in a cookbook that my Ladies Golf League put together for a fundraiser. I have made it several times and it’s never failed me. The last time we made this dish, my husband grilled the marinated pork tenderloin instead of cooking on our stove top. We both thought that the char flavor was a delicious alternative, and a great version for warmer weather. Either way it’s the tangy sweet marinade that gives the pork its unique flavor. And the this homemade mustard cider sauce is the perfect compliment.
Ingredients Pork Tenderloin in A Mustard Cider Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Grainy Mustard
- 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
- 2 ½ lbs. Pork Tenderloin
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 1/3 cup Chicken Broth
- 2/3 cup Apple Cider
- 1/3 Cup Heavy Cream
- Salt & Pepper to Taste
Directions
Mix one tablespoon of oil, one tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon mustard, and brown sugar in a bowl. Place the pork tenderloin in the bowl turn to coat with the marinade. Cover dish and place in your refrigerator for at least 1 hour or can be left overnight.
When ready to prepare add 1 tablespoon of oil to a frying pan and heat, add the tablespoon of butter. Add the pork tenderloin and brown on all sides. Add salt and pepper as meat is turned. Next add the 1/3 cup of chicken broth and cover pan. Reduce your heat and let simmer for around 20-25 minutes. (temp should read 145 when cooked). Remove meat from pan and set on a platter. Tent with foil to keep warm. Add the 2/3 of cup of apple cider to the pan with the drippings and let the liquid reduce to approximately ½ cup. Finish by adding the Heavy Cream to the sauce. Mix the sauce well and remove from heat. Slice your pork tenderloin in ½ inch slices. Serve with the sauce.
Grilling Option
Grill marinated pork tenderloin over medium heat. Cook approximately 7-8 minutes per side until internal temp is about 145 degrees. Serve with store bought gourmet honey mustard sauce.
bon appetit!

Sounds delicious, Nancy!
We used to do a mustard sauce on pork chops many years ago. I had completely forgotten about making pork with mustard until I was reading your recipe.
I’m going to try your recipe out once I start spending more time in the grocery store.😉

Oh my gosh, that sounds and looks absolutely delicious!! I love pork tenderloin, too. I’ve never tried it on the grill, though. I think once the weather here is more consistently warm, we’re going to have to give that a go. Thank you!

That looks like my kind of recipe because I love mustard so much I can eat it from the jar. Better than chocolate paste, hey! I will pass it on to my husband as he is the meat cooker. I kind of ruin it. Many thanks for sharing.
