I have had long hair most all my life. And, I am always looking for ways to simplify my hair styling routine. Back in 1982, after my first child was born, I decided to cut it very short to save time with styling. I had a cut angling the front portion longer than the back. It was a very trendy hairstyle at the time. However, it was not meant for my hair type. You see, my hair is thick and wavy. And, I have a lot of it. At home, when I blow dry my hair, I often try to get the look of having just left the salon with a smooth blowout. However, it is a struggle. My arms get very tired. Or, I heat up the bathroom to the point where I have to remove clothing to continue. Salon blowouts are a luxury I save only for special occasions. However, recently that I was introduced to the Revlon One Step Hair Dryer. And, let me tell you, it is a real game changer.
My Go- To Hair Tools
What is the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer?
The Revlon One Step Hair Dryer is a hot air brush tool designed to give you the look of a professional blow dry. The combination of a round brush and hair dryer, this tool will give you that fresh salon blow-out feeling while at home. The fact that I can now blow-dry and style my hair with just one tool is very appealing to me
Unlike other hot air brushes, the Revlon One Step Hair Dryer is oval. The heated hair dryer smoothes your hair and provides a nice curl at the bottom. And it works to smooth your hair without leaving it poofy looking.
Below are a few tips to guide you, with use of the brush. However, I am not a professional. It is best if you have concerns to speak with your stylist who knows your hair just as you do.
Revlon One Step Hair Dryer Tips
- Let your hair air dry so that it is just damp. Never attempt to dry soaking wet hair.
- Before I begin, I brush my wet hair. I like to use a brush like this specifically designed for use on wet hair.
- I apply this smoothing spray and then this heat protectant spray before I start drying.
- Next, I start at the bottom by clipping up the top sections. I use the brush to blow dry small sections at a time. Keeping your hair smooth underneath is just as important as smoothing out your top sections.
- Run the brush through your section a few times until it is dry making sure to curl the ends inward, framing your face.
- Never use the highest settings
- Sulfate Free Shampoos and conditioners are always a great choice. My favorite is this Pureology Brand.
I find that the Revlon One Step Hair Dryer leaves my hair smooth and straight with a nice curl at the bottom. This hair style lasts 3-4 days depending on my activities. I still enjoy pampering myself at a salon, but this tool has allowed me to love my hair again in between salon visits.

Hi Nancy,
Another thing we have in common, we both used the same hair styling techniques and Revlon styling dryer.
I am going to give your Ulta products a try. My stylish recommends switching between a couple products.

I agree with your stylist about switching products I feel that using the same one over and over eventually causes build up and stops working as well.
My Best,
