As I’m writing this blog, I’m watching the Masters. A little ironic as the color of the Masters is green. There’s even a Masters pantone color called “masters green.” The Green jacket tradition started in 1937 when the officials wanted the club members to be recognized. The color itself is associated with spring and as most of us golf enthusiast know, this is when the championship is played.
Green is also a symbol of renewal and energy. It relates to excitement and is associated with happiness. With all that being said, we should all have a little green in our wardrobe. I am a big fan of color. I like wearing green. When I’m wearing something bright, it makes me happy. Wearing green in the spring is perfect as it coincides with the changes in nature. It’s refreshing this time of year to introduce new color and floral prints when you dress, especially after a long cold winter.
So how exactly do you wear green?
A flowy dress for spring in floral prints are perfect for Easter Brunches, Wedding showers, and social events.A geometric or striped print dress is fun and can add a little edginess to your attitude if that’s you.
Solid or striped? If you’re a pants person then these are perfect as you can wear them with a solid or a floral print blouse. Colors that work well with green all depend on the undertone of the shade. If your wearing pastels, then you should stick with lighter neutral shades to balance. If you are wearing a bright green, then you should go with a bolder shade to compliment the pants your wearing.
Springs popular shade of Kelly Green works very well with white, shades of taupe, and black, but if you want to play around with color you can pair Kelly Green with a bright Royal Blue.
Swap out your coat for an invigorating shade of green. What better way to defy mother nature on a gloomy rainy spring day?
Another distinctive shade of green is Army Green. This season we are seeing a lot of casual coats in this muted olive shade. It’s perfect because it really won’t clash with much and it can be transitioned into fall too. Whether you are looking for a more traditional type or something trendy, there are many rain coats, and light weight jackets available in this color right now.
You can also think about a pair of green earrings to accent your ensemble if you are not comfortable wearing a lot of color. Another way to introduce green is by carrying a brightly colored handbag. Spring’s arrival has new shades of color popping up everywhere. We also see brighter shades of nail polish lipsticks.
Adding color is a distinctive way to welcome the season. You can be as subtle or daring as your individual style says about you. Go ahead and enlighten your wardrobe with a splash of color for spring. Like me, you could discover that color puts you in a good mood.
