Skincare is an important part of my morning routine. However, I have recently learned that wearing a moisturizer with sunscreen is just not enough to protect my skin if I am out in the sun. Especially now that I live in Florida, I need to incorporate a variety of ways to practice sun safety.
Did you know that today, Monday, May 4th, is Melanoma Monday? It is the official kick off to May and Melanoma Awareness Month. With that, I am excited to partner with Cabana Life and share some of my favorite stylish sun protection clothing.
With everything going on right now, we are all looking for brighter days ahead. First, I cannot wait to see my family back home in Chicago. After our family visits, I look forward to the return of going out with my family, friends and girlfriends. Typically, in lieu of dinners, my husband and I enjoy heading out to early happy hours. I have curated a list of our favorite restaurants in Naples here. I imagine wearing this cute Cabana Life Smocked Dress out to D’Amico’s The Continental. It’s a fun stylish print. And, I like the idea that you can wear this dress as a cover up or for cocktail hour. But, importantly it has UPF 50 protection too.
Sun Protection for Your Style
Recently, I was introduced to Cabana Life and love how dedicated they are to spreading the message of sun protection and raising awareness for skin cancer. It is critical to take sun protection seriously. Applying sunscreen is not enough when you spend long hours in the sun. Having clothing with UPF 50 protection is a benefit because you can enjoy being outdoors while staying protected.
The founders of Cabana Life are two women, Melissa and Alyssa, that lived in Manhattan and worked together in the magazine industry. At the age of 26, Melissa was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. Her mission was to create fashionable sun protection that women would enjoy wearing.
Their website has many stylish protective options for you to choose from. They feel that we should not have to sacrifice style for sun safety. The fabric on both of the dresses that I am wearing is lightweight, breathable, and wrinkle resistant not to mention it is also available in a variety of patterns & prints.
While screenings are currently on hold, you may want to consider getting a skin check by a board-certified dermatologist after the stay at home orders are lifted across the country. You can find a certified dermatologist here.
Special Discount Code for May
Lastly, I feel the need to mention that Cabana Life also makes protective clothing in men’s, and kids sizes too!
And, right now, Cabana Life has provided me with a special discount code to offer you. They are offering $20 off every purchase of $100 with the code a.two.drink.minimum Cheers!
I’d like to introduce you to two friends I have met through Instagram who are joining styling with Cabana Life on their blogs today. Robin Lamonte from “Hello I’m 50ish” also wearing the Cabana Life Aqua Citrus Shift Dress
And Hayley Constantino of San Francisco Bay Style wearing the Coral Geo Off the Shoulder Dress

Hi Nancy!
I LOVE both dresses on you! The ots blue print dress is perfect for a warm day and I love the sound of this company too. I wear an SPF sunscreen of 40 in the warmer months and don’t sunbathe. I used to do crazy stuff in my teens and twenties but quickly learned better and took care of my skin.
I love the blue and peach combination of the 2nd dress and you accessorized it so lovely!
Have a great week
stay safe

Hello Jess,
I think that most of us can say that we did a lot of crazy things in our twenties. Unfortunalty we are now paying for it with sun damaged skin. We can not change what we did but we can move forward with good practices about sun exposure.
Have a wonderful week and thanks for reading my blog!

Hell Haley,
IT was certainly fun sharing our @Cabanalife styles together! What a smart concept to build spf into clothing. With living in Florida I have had to readapt my routine skin care because of the amount of time I’m in the sun. Wearing protective clothing is an added benefit.

Those dresses are so cute and functional too. I am very impressed. Skin protection is something I have become far more aware of as I got older.

Hello Hilda,
After recently moving to Florida I have had to rethink my entire skin care regime. It wasn’t until I was introduced to @cabanalife that I realize I need to protect my entire body better too! This was a wake up call to me too.
Regards,
Nancy

I confess I haven’t worn anything besides sweat pants during the coronavirus pandemic. 😱 And I haven’t worn sun protection because I haven’t needed it while being so shut in. That needs to change! Thanks for the nudge. These pretty dresses are a mood. So light and happy. 🎀💓
