I recently added three dresses for spring to my closet that I am excited to share with you today.
First, we have a classic shirt dress. This classic is one that you can easily dress up or down. It’s great for layering, and it will offer you numerous looks. For example, my LilySilk Amalfi striped silk shirt dress with a matching belt may make you look like you’re on a seaside vacation, but it’s the perfect spring dress for numerous occasions. Plus, the A-line fit offers a flattering silhouette that anyone can wear. LilySilk gave me a discount code use code 12Nancy to save!
How to Style a Classic Shirtdress
I like a classic shirtdress because you can make the look your own for almost any occasion.
- alone with lug sole sandals
- casual with sneakers or flats
- as a daytime coverup for the beach to happy hour
- unbuttoned as a long tunic with white denim and a camisole
- paired with a white blazer. I just picked up this one and really like the oversized fit.
How to Style a Floral Dress
Next up, we have a floral look. Springtime floral dresses portray the meaning of flower power. This light-as-a-feather Lily Silk halter strap dress will have you feeling exactly as good as you look in it. I felt like dancing and twirling from the minute I tried it on. I’m assuming that’s why they call it the waltz dress. It flows beautifully with its asymmetric hemline, and the delicate paisley flowers against the sunny orange silk are ideal for a springtime wedding guest dress. But, of course, it is also the perfect party dress for those summertime soirees.
Make it your own by adding a shawl, lightweight sweater, and metallic low-heeled sandals. You can take it up a notch with strappy sandals, statement earrings, an elegant blazer, and your favorite bright lipstick for the evening.
How to Style a Maxi Dress
Tommy Bahama has a few locations here in Naples. I mentioned my love for their swimwear recently in this post. However, I am also really loving their resort wear pieces. My Tommy Bahama Splendid Sea maxi dress will make you feel as calm as the Ocean in this romantic, bright modern print. I thought it reminded me of watercolors. It’s an elegant yet defined romantic dress. I wore this dress to a luncheon, and two women followed me into the bathroom, asking me about it. This dress is such a statement I decided to keep the accessories simple. The one thing to remember with maxi dresses is to keep things proportionately. I’m petite, just under 5’4”, so I wore straw wedges to balance my look. Next, add a jean jacket for the daytime. Finally, add a fun clutch or colorful platforms to make the look pop.
