An Ageless Ensemble -Topknot Headbands
I’ve been seeing topknot headbands for quite a while. My daughter Brittany suggested we give it a try for our ageless ensemble look. At first, I was hesitant thinking I was too old for this style. After all, both of her young daughters wear them. I felt that I’ve only seen this style on younger faces. That quickly changed after I googled the look and saw many women within my age group with both short and long hair sporting the look. Alright then, I found out I was wrong, and decided to give the headband a try and slip one on.
This new trend includes topknot style headbands and embellished headbands
There have been and still are all types of headband styles, this ever-trendy accessory never has really gone out of style. Throughout time the looks for headbands changed. Right now, we are seeing embellished headbands, turbin headbands, thin headbands, shiny metallic headbands, and scarf print headbands. Headbands are a great accessory for the beach when you want to keep your hair tame and off your face. A crystal or pearl embellished headband can add the final touch for a formal gown.
Unlike wearing a ponytail wound tightly with a coated rubber band, a headband will not harm your hair. Constantly wearing a ponytail can cause your hair to break off.
A great accessory to update your look – or for a bad hair day
Another reason to slide on a topknot headband is if you’re not wanting to fuss with your hair and need to get out the door. They are a good go-to for a bad hair day.
Although I will admit if a headband is tight it can give you a headache so be careful when you are choosing a headband that the fit feels good. It’s probably been about ten years or so since I’ve worn headbands, and just recently gave my collection to my granddaughters to play with.
I think now my mind has changed and I’ll keep a few of these topknot headbands around. I like the look, but better yet the convenience, of not having to keep working on my bangs when they choose to go their own direction. I will once again thank my daughter for her suggestion on our ageless ensemble. I do like this new style headband and with hot humid summer days headbands may come to the rescue.
Lastly, I have to say when I was looking up hair accessories, I found a recent blog about banana clips making a comeback, no joke!

Yes! I have some banana clips, they are making a comeback! I like them because it gets my hair pulled back without the harshness of a pony tail or bun, it still “flows” out of the clip. I’m not sure I can get on board with scrunchies though – that might be taking it a little too far for my taste, lol!

Hello Beth,
I’m definitely revisiting the headband look again. I used to own several banana clips and with my long hair they were perfect for keeping it in place. I guess I’ll be taking another look at those too 🙂
Have a great holiday weekend!
