How did pickleball get to be so popular? What do you wear to play pickleball? I first learned about pickleball after moving to Florida a few years ago. For several years playing golf was my favorite hobby. I played up to four times a week once our children were grown and we became empty nesters.
After relocating to Florida, I saw bumper stickers saying I love pickleball. Soon after, I learned that pickleball, often described as a combination of badminton, ping pong, and tennis, is the fastest-growing sport in the United States. In addition, I found that Florida is the unofficial pickleball capital of the world. The Naples Pickle Ball Center, with over 60 pickleball courts here in Florida, hosts the annual Minto Us Open Pickle Ball Championship.
Wanting to explore new options and make new friends, my husband and I decided to try pickleball. We heard that pickleball is easy to play for many people. It’s not as high an impact as tennis, not as time-consuming as a round of golf, and an excellent way to get in a workout. However, the genuine interest for the two of us was that we were looking for socialization.
You’ll understand that I need the proper clothing and accessories if you know me. Pickleball outfits are activewear that’s similar to tennis clothing. There’s a variety of skorts styles, tops, and dresses. While attending a tournament, I noticed that the women who played doubles often dressed alike, which I thought was cute.
Pickleball Equipment and Accessories
I had the pleasure of working earlier this year with Trelle & Co, a company started by two girlfriends who love to play pickleball. Their bags are cute, stylish bags and designed to carry your racket and balls. I like the look, but most importantly, they are made with quality. Use code Trelle10 for a 10% discount.
Another company I have worked with is Recess maker of Pickleball Paddles. They have a fun artsy selection of paddles that I found lovely.
It’s important to wear footwear that gives you the correct traction. I have learned that many injuries occur by players falling from running backward, so you want the right shoes.
I’m new to pickleball but competitive, so I’ll be signing up for lessons next month. In the meantime, I’m learning the rules and scoring, and I also found that the kitchen is not just meant for cooking.

Some beautiful clothing! Pickleball hasn’t become a thing here in SC yet but I have a feeling it’s going to make a big splash around here before summer is over with.

I’ve never played pickle ball either thought it’s really popular here in Upstate NY too! And I had to laugh at your comment about being appropriately dressed – that’s the first thing I’d think about when considering a new sport 😆

Its fun Marjorie and I do like the artistic looking paddles. I’m fortunate to be able to play often in Florida.
