Are you packing for paradise soon? Winter getaways are a treat, especially if you escape the chilly temperatures. What to bring on a warm-weather vacation doesn’t have to be complicated. Here is a list of essentials that are both fashionable and functional.
What to Bring on a Warm-Weather Vacation
- Flowy dresses. I love the “Nap Dress” by Hill House. Easy to pack and wear both day and night. I prefer dresses because you do not have to match tops and bottoms. You can see how I styled the dress here
- Maxi skirts that can be worn during the daytime with flats and at night with wedges. I have my eye on this free people denim maxi skirt
- Comfortable walking shoes you can wear while traveling as well as sightseeing, and hiking. New Balance is very comfortable and very trendy right now.
- Bathing suits. You’ll want to pack 2-3 at least. Summersalt has wonderful options. They allow you to shop around by coverage and desired support. I always spot at least one woman at the beach in a suit on my walks. I’ve worked with this brand Andie and also own a few of their suits and can vouch for their coverage and fit.
- Versatile bathing suit cover-ups that can be worn as layering pieces over your swimwear. I like these flowy pants from Amazon. And this flowy tunic top can be worn alone or with bottoms.
- For athletic wear, you may want to include workouts or yoga on the beach, something you can’t do back home.
- Hats are necessary for sun protection. Yet also serve as a stylish accessory. I picked this hat up recently on sale.
- Large Tote for the beach or pool or to carry home your souvenirs
- A pair of white denim jeans will always have a clean, crisp look paired with dressy blouses for dinner or a casual tee for a fun, relaxed look. I love the way NYDJ fit and this pair is similar to a pair and wear year-round.
- Shorts can be worn in the daytime for lunch, or shopping and thrown over your bathing suits for a quick cover-up. This style is a top seller on Amazon. You can see
Don’t Forget the Basics!
Of course, you will need the basics, such as pajamas and underwear. And, don’t forget to bring your fun accessories, such as necklaces, sunglasses, and an evening clutch.
Lastly, choose lightweight, breathable pieces and leave the darker colors at home. Heavy fabrics and dark clothing will have you looking misplaced.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

This post came a week late as I am already hanging out on a sunny tropical island. I have to admit that we only took carry on luggage so my wardrobe is minimal.
Nancy Weiss says
I’m very impressed I would have a difficult time packing everything in a carry on. I hope you are enjoying your travels.

I don’t travel to warmer locations – I have bookmarked this in case I ever have to travel where it’s warmer. Because I probably wouldn’t know what to pack! 😂

Thanks for reaching out 🙂 I do find that dresses are a great item to pack because they can be worn both day and night. You can swap out accessories to change up the look and those leave more room in your suitcase!
