If you live in the Midwest, then you may be a lot like me when it comes to deciding what to wear on Easter Sunday. Meaning that we wait to hear the weather forecast and then we get dressed. The weather this time of year is so unpredictable. I know that there are visions of soft pretty florals, and light pastels in our heads when it comes to putting on your Sunday best, but we’ve had some cold Easter Sunday’s in the Chicagoland area.
I’ve come up with a few Easter Sunday scenarios below to help you decide what to wear.
Spring is really such a short season for fashion, the transition period can sometimes go from your winter wardrobe right into summer clothes. Most people do not spend a lot of money investing in spring fashion for that very reason. There are a few tricks to staying warm on cooler spring days, which I’ve mentioned in my camel coat blog. This year Easter is later in April so hopefully we will have a nice and warm sunny day.
#1 What to wear to Church
Dressing for church is important to me as I want to present myself wearing my Sunday Best to worship the God I’m grateful for. In this case, I prefer wearing a dress, however simple stated pants suits, and skirts, with a business casual look are all good choices. This dress reminds me of the iconic DVF wrap dress from the 70’s. So timeless and beautiful colors. Keep your look modest, as some churches may have dress codes. I would not recommend wearing denim to church on Easter. I know that church attire is a little more relaxed these days, however this is a holiday. My rule of thumb, when in doubt….don’t.
#2 What to wear to Easter Brunch
This is easy as you’re most likely attending brunch after church. You may want to bring a pair of flats if you think you it will be a long day. It doesn’t hurt to keep them in the car if they aren’t needed. I love this yellow DVF skirt. You can style it with a crisp button down or a white cotton tee. Top it with a Denim Jean Jacket for a more casual look or opt for a black sweater. I love styling skirts with a low heeled white bootie!
#3 What to wear to an Easter Egg Hunt
This is a more casual event and you’ll most likely be helping your grandchildren find eggs. I suggest capri pants, even a nice pair of denim jeans. Keep in mind you will be outside, so make sure to have a jacket or a sweater. Wear comfortable flats. The levels outside can go from grass, to stones, to steps, so prepare yourself by wearing appropriate shoes.
#4 What to wear to a family gathering at someone’s home
This can be tricky because if you are like me. I’m always in the kitchen helping prepare the meal so I want to be comfortable. This means flat shoes and sleeves that can be rolled up to do dishes. It’s a holiday, and you have guests so you want to look nice, however if your hosting you’ll be active and do not want to worry about ruining your clothing. In this case, aprons are a perfect accessory in the kitchen. I shared a few of my favorite below!
Have a Very Blessed Easter!
