I am sure by now we are all shaking our heads and saying the same thing. Who knew? No sense in sulking over what happened this past year, we cannot go back nor can we undo any part of 2020. We all had our share of ups and downs. Some unfortunately more than others, which is incredibly sad.
In May, I wrote a post about looking on the bright side. I honestly believe there were lessons to be learned through all of this. We are all meant to slow down, reprioritize our lives and focus on what really matters.
With many of our usual holiday traditions broken, we found ourselves improvising and starting new traditions. We all watched a lot of television, cleaned out closets, baked plenty of desserts (like these delicious brownies), some of us might have even discovered day drinking…speaking for others of course.
However, there is a positive outcome to acknowledge before we hastily cast away this past year. Families spent more time together, we learned to simplify our lives, tried at home self-pampering, figured out how to do zoom calls, fixed up our homes, and most importantly we learned to cherish life. We will no longer take anything for granted, because we know that life can not be guaranteed.
Mindfullness
With a new year starting up I am going to focus on one word instead of making my usual resolutions that never seem to make it past January. My word for the year will be mindfulness. I am going to pay attention to details, to savor the moment I’m in, and not think too far ahead into the future. I am going to choose my time wisely and find a way to turn each day into gift that I will hope to look back on with a smile.
Happy New Year to You all! I now challenge you to choose one word that you will live with for 2021. Pick one single word to focus on and help make this year more meaningful.
Cheers,

That’s a great word for the year and a great goal! Balance is my word for the year, but it also incorporates mindfulness. Great post Nancy!

Hi Nancy and Happy New Year! I do think you have to try and just do your best and remain hopeful- or have a glass of wine! Lol. It is so true we need to look at lessons we may have learned, and just try to take each day at a time.
Have a great day!

Mine is TBD!

I’m sure your word will be special. What matters is living each day to the fullest because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
