Do you neglect strength training and stretching after exercise? I’m guilty here. Admittedly, my eyes are always focused on the calorie count. Unfortunately, I have found that that my idea of working out may have kept my weight in check. However, in the long run, it wasn’t helping with other important health concerns. Our age group needs to pay close attention to bone density, cardiovascular, and blood sugar levels too. In the last seven years, because of surgeries, and a frozen shoulder, I relied on physical therapy as my only form of exercise for strength training. Going to physical therapy is hard work and helps to recover. However, I shouldn’t have substituted it for real strength training.
In the last two years, we all had to adjust our workout routines. As a result, I started walking outdoors for exercise. I felt it was sufficient. But, I left out stretching and using weights. This was not good, because after a while, I lost my range of mobility, and had stiffness in my joints. I knew something needed to change.
Awhile back I wrote about the importance of exercise. I still feel these tips are key to living a healthy lifestyle.

The Exercise Coach
With that, I decided to give The Exercise Coach a visit. You are guided with a trainer using their unique technology to maximize your personal strength training routine. It’s a mix of cardio and strength training that you can complete in just twenty minutes! Which is what I like to hear! Plus, you just need to do it 1-3 times a week. Time is one of the biggest excuses many find as a deterrence from working out. The fact that this program is just twenty minutes is very attractive to me. I also like the personal coach and guidance. It feels as though the coaches want to help you get better without pushing you to hard. I like the entire concept and feel it would be very beneficial in the long run. Honestly, the only thing holding me back was the expense. But, you’re first two sessions are free, if you’re interested in giving it a try!
Workout Clothes from Amazon
In the past, I took advantage of working out at home and I would just throw on any old thing I had. To get myself motivated, I recently purchased new workout clothes from Amazon! These leggings are buttery soft, you’ll love the feel of them. And, I thought that this cute top would pair well with them. I am still loving these shoes that I purchased last year, also from Amazon. I think they are perfect for walking and your strength training workout.

Nancy, You are so right about the importance of exercise! I’ve been pretty lazy but since our move to NYC I’m doing a lot of walking and have started back at pilates. It feels good to move! I’m always looking for comfy and cute workout clothes so thank you for sharing!

It’s very easy to slip away from working out. I used to find all kinds of excuses. although once I got back to a routine, I felt so much better and the more I made it part of my everyday activity the easier it became.

I also adjusted my work out routine and for the first time in over 20 years gave up my gym membership. I created a home gym and signed up for yoga classes, I’m much happier and a lot less stress now… love your links!

Hello Sherri,
I used to love my yoga workouts at home but after my hip replacements I became scared of hurting myself and stopped. I needed to find confidence again in working out. Thankfully I feel as though I have put that behind me now.
My Best,
Nancy

Hi Nipa,
I really liked the selection of workout clothing that Amazon has. I have neglected stretching and weights too often. From here on I’m going to try and give more attention to both.
Have a great week!

First that outfit is so cute on you, love the little waist accent. I do like to have nice workout wear too!
The trainer sounds interesting! I belong to a gym with Silver and Fit program and can utilize the facilities for next to nothing. I do much of my workout at home, as I have a treadmill and weights, dumbells, kettlebells etc.. I go directly to the weights after running. I think the gym will be a nice change and I may try water aerobics. we certainly do have to be aware of bone health , my mom has osteopenia. Glad you found something you enjoy.
